Sobre este artículo

John S. Taylor, New York, 1838. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. REESE, DAVID MERIDETH, M.D. Humbugs of New-York: Being a Remonstrance Against Popular Delusion; Whether in Science, Philosophy, or Religion, New York: John S. Taylor, 1838. 12mo, first edition, pp. xii, 13-267, 4 (ads), brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Predating Mackay's "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds," this book was a "humble attempt to furnish a corrective to the prevailing fanaticism of the day," the author says. That fanaticism included animal magnetism, phrenology and medical quackery. Worldcat locates numerous copies in institutional libraries, but it's scarce in the marketplace. See Sabin 68653. Condition of this book: Covers water-stained with cloth perished at bottom of spine. Light to moderate foxing, overall sound. Size: 12mo. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
