Sobre este artículo

Budapest, 1926. Hardcover. Cream cloth covered boards. Good. 466 pages. 24 x 17 cm. With over 75 pieces of ephemera laid in, this well used Hungarian cookbook became a repository for the owner's love of cooking. Surveying the newspaper clippings that have been saved, this homemaker was originally from Hungary but settled in America (Gaithersburg, MD). We find newspaper clippings from the Washington DC area: Washington Post, Washington Star-News, and the New York Times, as well as the Sunday of Catholic Hungarians. Dates range from the early 1950's to the late 1970's. Also laid in are recipes typed in Hungarian and English, Notes on spending, an ornate Christmas card from a sister, 3 airmail stamps, a General Mills Home Meal Planner, and a money order slip. We can tell our homemaker loved to bake - there are many typed recipes that are soiled and used over and over again. A review of George Lang's book - The Cuisine of Hungary gives us a glimpse of a Hungarian-American still enjoying the food from her home country. This book was not "just a cookbook", but used, almost like a family bible, to store the items that were close to her heart. Covers worn with title page missing. Interior clean.
