"He moved with his parents by covered wagon to New Mexico in 1915, where they lived on the Seven Bar Ranch until 1924. He returned to Texas, where he attended high school at Lorenzo, Texas. After working as a cowboy and farmer, he became a hobo, and rode freight trains back and forth across the nation, during the depression years..." (text from dust jacket).
