Quarter leather with marbled boards and black spine with gilt lettering and simple decoration. All plates are present and placed at pages: frontis, 20, 62, 87, 113, 133, 155, 170, 208, 223, 233, 246, 267, 288, 321, 350, 374, and 403. Rubbed overs with scuffed corners, bbed leather over joints. Sound binding. Hand-written date pencilled on inside of front cover (July 16 1882) and previous owner's name and date (Agnes Gertrude Coates, June 5th 144) in ink on reverse of free front end-paper. Top of title-page has been cut away. Light foxing to prelims. Packed weight approx. 3kg. Contains black and white plates (full page illustrations). No dust jacket, as published.
