Sobre este artículo

London: The Idler, 158, Strand, 1900. First Edition (& 1st printing). Octavo, original pictorial wrappers. Single issue of this magazine, Edited and with numerous contributions by Sime. pp i-iv, [382] - 472, v-vi, 473-474, vii-viii, 475-476, xi-xii; complete with all advertisements and illustrations (although the front cover advertises. Sime contributes six full page black & white illustrations: "In Faery Lands Forlorn (p. 7); "Thimble-Rig" (p. 27); "(Untitled)" (p. 30); "At Elsinore" (p. 33); "Well, I'm Sorry I Spoke, said the Crow" (p. 41); "The Raven" (p. 87); plus numerous other smaller illustrations and designs throughout the text. It is our understanding that while Sime was already contributing numerous illustrations to THE IDLER, he purchased the magazine and become its Editor in 1901 and this is the first issue done under his Editorship, which ran from September 1900 - January 1901. Faint creases to covers, minor browning, a very good to near fine copy, unrestored and in lovely condition with a complete, unchipped spine that has a tiny tear at the bottom edge. Rare in the original wrappers.

¶ Sidney Sime is an almost legendary name in the world of illustration. He grew from poverty and obscurity to become ‘the Greatest Living Imaginative Artist’. Sime is mostly remembered for his fantastic artwork, especially his story illustrations for Irish fantasy author Lord Dunsany.
