Faded brown stamped cloth boards with gilt imprint. Light soil, sunning, and worn off spine ends. Rubbed out former owner's name on front pastedown, former owner's name on first free endpaper. Light soil on edges and some pages. Xi, 2-[256], hand-colored folding map measuring 16" x 12". Map is in good condition with edge toning and tape repairs on three-inch tears. Part travelogue and part poetic and philosophical description of Illinois, the guide covers everything from homesteading to poisonous reptiles. Howes J 184. ; 6 1/2" x 4"; 256 pp .
