Attractive unused, though likely incomplete, set of vintage Olympicard company (from Enfield, Connecticut) illustrated notecards with poetry excerpts. Incudes a total of 41 notecards (inside blank for a personal message) in 4 designs with 53 matching envelopes (box not available). Collectible and/or usable. Poetry excerpts add to the versatility of use for these notecards.
Each card is 5 1/4" x 3 3/4" in size & front of card is illustrated with a poetry excerpt printed in dark blue ink on a light blue background accompanied by a line drawing in light blue, dark blue & white; envelopes are 5 3/8" x 3 7/8" in size.
Poetry excerpt details as follows:
1) 11 Olympicard #N-131 notecards with an 8-line excerpt from the poem entitled "The Earth and Man" by Stopford A. Brooke (1832-1916) starting with the line "A little sun, a little rain";
2) 10 Olympicard #132 notecards with a 4-line excerpt from the poem by Thomas Bailey Aldrich (1836-1906) entitled "A Shadow of the Night" starting with the line "What is lovely never dies but passes into other loveliness".
3) 11 Olympicard #N-133 notecards with the first 4 lines of the famous 1803 poem entitled "Auguries of Innocence" by William Blake (1757-1827) starting with the line "To see the world in a grain of sand".
4) 9 Olympicard #134 notecards with a 5 line quote attributed to the Canadian Blackfoot Chief, Crowfoot (Sahpo Muxika, 1836-1890) starting with the words "What is Life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night".
