Folio; bound in ornate Japanese style brocade silk binding; the front and back covers with inset illustrations; tied with purple silk tassels; all edges gilt. Except for some barely noticeable damage to the upper illustration, a fine copy. Offered as an expensive souvenir for western visitors, there are numerous variants with different photographs; this one has 96 unnumbered collotype plates with some coloring and descriptive captions at the bottom margins; another version was issued with 100 numbered plates.
