Each volume is hand-numbered. The set is hand-numbered 216 of a limited set of 350. The three volumes are fully bound in brown leather with stamped gilt borders, decoration and titling (all very clubbable). The spine has five ridges. The boards and spine are handsome and very healthy. The paper trims have shelving marks, storage spots. A most companionable set. Volume I: Mammals ; 268 pages. The pages do have storage related tanning about some edges. The early pages have some flushes of tanning. Otherwise, the pages are hale, strong, clean, clear, stately, grand. Volume 2: Birds ; 494 pages. The contents are as with volume 1. Most pleasing. Vol 3: Reptiles, Fish and Invertebrates; 614 pages. The early and later pages have storage / age-related spotting, blushes of tanning about the edges. The illustrations in each volume are fresh, bright, vivid, visceral, sharply-detailed.
