Original brown cloth backed boards with printed paper spine label, viii, 229 pp., [2] ads., lacking rear endpapers, two ownership stamps in black and purple on front pastedown, some tearing to margins of leaves (text unaffected), some light foxing and staining to leaves, front hinges starting, corners and edges worn, text on the spine label worn out, sunning to upper rear board, but still a good copy of this important devotional work by Thomas Kempis. Book One: Prepatory Instructions for Spiritual Life, Book Two: Instructions for the More Intiment Enjoyment of the Spiritual Life, and Book Three: Of Divine Illumination.
