Introduction by author, list of illustrations, chronology, notes on further reading and index, dark blue coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with black-and-white drawings and photographs. Quarter-bound in cloth with Modigliani paper sides. Printed and blocked with a design by William Spring. Gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Dark blue coloured slip case. Before the modern age, only the intrepid, foolhardy or mad would undertake a voyage of exploration. Impossible Journeys tells the stories of 24 of these extraordinary journeys, from the Middle Ages to the Victorian era.
