New York: Harper & Brothers, 1883. Hardcover. Near Fine. in bright red and gilt letter with marbled page edges and endpapers, two discreet previous owner's names on blank pages, else unmarked. A beautiful copy. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Hard Cover. Later printing of the first edition, no date. First published in 1879, it was Eliot's last published writing and her most experimental, taking the form of a series of literary essays by an imaginary minor scholar whose eccentric character is revealed through his work. Most items ship with tracking numbers and (generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible.
