London: Elliot Stock, 1882. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. 1882 FIRST EDITION. Original dark blue cloth with black lettering and decoration front cover. Ex-Library with spine number, usual library stamps (stamps on versos of illustration plates), library bookplate on front pastedown, library bookplate pasted to rear cover. Nothing missing, complete with all pages and illustrations. Browning to EPs, no writing or underlining on pages, but all plates have library stamps on the versos. Several text pages have library stamps in the margins. Apparently, the library was concerned that this book might be pilfered. A good working example of this increasingly rare last of the ascent of Mont Blanc narratives. The book measures 223mm tall x 141mm, 76pp, 6 b/w engravings, diagram, map. Account of the 768th ascent of Mont Blanc. The climb was made by the author from Chamonix and is written in a very straightforward, unsensationalized manner, thus giving a most accurate description of what happened. This is one of the rarest later Mont Blanc accounts. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
