Yellow coloured boards with metallic copper titles to the backstrip. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and shelf wear to the lower book edges. Uniform browning to the text book edges and slight cocking of the spine. Handling marks and light fading to the book covers. Handling marks to the endpapers and the internal pages are uniformly brown. Plain text dustwrapper with a reproduction of an Australian Commonwealth Military Forces badge to the top right-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel. White background with black and gilt titles to the front panel and backstrip. Author photograph to the rear dustwrapper panel. Rubbing and creasing to the top dustwrapper edge and a little rubbing to the lower dustwrapper edge. The white of the background has become slightly yellow. A novel set at the end of World War II in a military hospital in the mental ward. It focuses in on the five last remaining patients and their nurse. This is the first Australian edition.
