In 1848, while still a student, he compiled his first index of 154 pages. In 1882 the 3rd, @ 1469pages. "WEBurton" neatly inked inside cover. Below that, in pencil: "A Oakley Hall, who purchased at sale of W Burton Oct 1860". Burton was an NYC actor and author. He also published "Gentleman's Magazine" from 1837-40, with Edgar Allan Poe as editor. Burton's signature is a match with Wikipedia samples. Also his death date of Feb 1860 is consistent with Hall's Oct 1860 purchase. Hall, 1826-1898, was a lawyer, politician & writer. He was NYC DA from 1853-59 & 1861-69, Then mayor from 1869 to 1872. Wilipedia has Hall as one of the worst mayors the country has ever had. .

We sell about 75% internet, 25% book fairs. We have been in business since the early 90's. We pack extremely well. We describe very conservatively and have only a few returns in the 5000 orders we have mailed.
