Sobre este artículo

Caldwell: Caxton Printers, 1935. First edition. Inscribed by the author. Octavo. Frontispiece portrait, 218 pp. Publisher's red cloth in pictorial dust jacket with only some very minor edge shipping. A very good copy in a very good jacket. Chief Washakie (c. 1798/1810 – February 20, 1900) was a renowned warrior first mentioned in 1840 in the written record of the American fur trapper, Osborne Russell. In 1851, at the urging of trapper Jim Bridger, Washakie led a band of Shoshones to the council meetings of the Treaty of Fort Laramie (1851). Essentially from that time until his death, he was considered the head of the Eastern Shoshones by the representatives of the United States government. This book is a kind of poetic paean to him. The inscription reads; Wishing Dr. Nolie Mumey a joyous Christmas (1937) and glorious New Year. Dr. Keith is an Elder in out church in Caspar. Since you love the history of the early West we thought you would enjoy this book. We secured Dr. Keith's autograph in it for you. Affectionately, Henry, Florence, George Calvun & Dorothea Green' It is then signed by Keith (in a different color ink).
