Sobre este artículo
London: The Bannisdale Press, 1951. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/Fair. First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 22.5 × 14.5cm, 151pp. Signed and dedicated by the author to the ffep, "To Tom and Di, with author's love, Hazari, Dec 1954". From the dustwrapper, "Here for the first time is shown something of the real nature of the caste system and under what humiliating conditions the fifty millions of Untouchables live. The author - an Untouchable - cannot see the solution of this caste problem even now after the independence of his country. His community is still the pawn in the field of votes and political manoeuvres. Yet in this book, he not only gives the true picture of the Outcast community; but his narrative takes one into the lives of the high caste Hindus and Moslems and shows a new picture of the British Raj with its English social life in India at a time when the British were sole masters. The Author describes the village life with its peace and prosperity without industries, its pig sticking and dancing girls, and how the face of India changed within his life. But above all this is his personal struggle to free himself from the bondage of Karma which has been forced on so many millions for centuries, and how he broke through all the barriers and is able to unveil the human soul not only in himself but in millions of others." Condition: The book is in good condition but the prelims are foxed. The dustwrapper is quite tatty to the edges with slight loss but is now within a protective sleeve.
