Marginal loss to top corner of final 100 pages, no text loss. <br><br> Pereira (1575-1655) was a noted Jurist who served in Spanish Peru. He was appointed judge in Lima in 1609 (Real Audiencia). In 1616 he was appointed governor and inspector of the mines of Huancavelica. (Huancavelica was noted as one of the pillars of Spanish mineral wealth in the New World and important source of mercury.) Pereira continued as a jurist and prosecutor, on the Real y Supremo Consejo de Indias. An important book in Spanish-American history and the legal treatment of natives in the Spanish Indies.
