Sobre este artículo

LONDON: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1940 A near fine copy of the 11th printing of the first edition in bright orange cloth binding with a black silhouette of Jeeves chasing Harold the page boy on the front board. This book contains the immortal story of Bertie Wooster's stay at Twing and the attempts to place bets on entrants to the Vicar's Fete. This printing is circa 1940 and the book is with a slightly later wrap - probably 1949 - in fair condition. The binding is very bright and clean with slight pulling to spine ends and light wear to corners. There is some spotting at the top page edges (not visible internally) and a few spots to the foredge. Contents are very clean with some light foxing spots at the endpapers and a slight pale mark in the gutter at p 224. The paper is lightly toned. The wrap has general edge nibbles with loss at the top and bottom of the spine, and the flap folds. There is some marking to the front panel and some spotting, visible at the edges, and more predominant on the inside of the wrap. The spine, which has a 5/- price at the bottom, is slightly darker. Internally the spine is browned. The last book title on the front flap is The Mating Season, suggesting that it dates from 1949.

Sinopsis

'You don't analyse such sunlit perfection, you just bask in its warmth and splendour.' Stephen Fry.A classic collection of stories featuring some of the funniest episodes in the life of Bertie Wooster, gentleman, and Jeeves, his gentleman's gentleman - in which Bertie's terrifying Aunt Agatha stalks the pages, seeking whom she may devour, while Bertie's friend Bingo Little falls in love with seven different girls in succession (including the bestselling romantic novelist Rosie M. Banks). And Bertie, with Jeeves's help, hopes to evade the clutches of the terrifying Honoria Glossop. . . At its heart is one of Wodehouse's most delicious stories, 'The Great Sermon Handicap.'

Other areas include children's books, particularly late 1800's-early 1900's - again illustrated; and literature pre 1900.When you order books from us we ensure that they are properly packed to protect condition, and we always use recorded or 'signed for' postal services for more secure delivery. Please note that we have recently moved to the beautiful Orkney Islands, where we intend to open a bookshop over the next year.
