Sobre este artículo
Univ Pr of Kansas, 1991. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Greer, Bill. Association copy, inscribed on the half-title page in black ink: "To the Governor [Joan Finney] and the people of Kansas from a native--at Cedar Crest, May 22, 1992, Richard Rhodes." Joan Finney was the first woman to serve as Governor of Kansas, from 1991-1995. A nice association, since this book is a reissue by the University of Kansas Press of Richard Rhodes's 1970 first book. He would go on to win the Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award (the triple crown) for his 1986 900-page work of literary journalism, The Making of the Atomic Bomb. He is also widely known for his great biography of John James Audubon. Rhodes was born in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1938. Fine book in fine jacket.

Sobre Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
