Sobre este artículo

Gloucester: Printed by R. Raikes, for T. Cadell, 1793. Hardcover. Very Good. Large Quarto. Pp. [v]-xiii, [1] errata, 424, [4], cxii. Two parts in one volume. Engraved title with vignette, followed by a half-page engraved coat of arms, plus 25 full-page engraved plates (several hand-coloured), 1 folding genealogical table (printed both sides), and several engraved textual illustrations. Bound in contemporary half morocco over marbled boards, elaborately gilt panelled spine between raised bands. Binding a little rubbed at extremities, title with semicircular marginal damp stain and ½" closed tear to outer edge, some offsetting from engraved material, modern bookplate, but overall a very nice copy. The First Edition. "The author of this elegant and erudite work has here, with the pen of a Tacitus, accurately defined, in a most comprehensive manner, the rise and progress of the science of heraldry, from the earliest through the most interesting period of British history, accommodating the study to modern systems." (Moule's Bibliothecæ Heraldica.) Dallaway's work also reprints the part of the celebrated "Boke of St. Albans" (1486) which relates to Armorial Bearings. Lowndes II 583.
