Inscribed Photograph Signed de PURPUR, Cliff "Fido" (1914-2001)

This U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer (inducted 1974) played National Hockey League right wing for the St. Louis Eagles, Chicago Black Hawks and Detroit Red Wings from 1934 to 1945 as well as in the American Hockey League minors for the St. Louis Flyers and elsewhere, finally coaching for the University of North Dakota "Fighting Sioux" team from 1949 to 1956. Handsome black-and-white full-length pose showing Fido in Black Hawks uniform, stick in hand, superbly inscribed and signed in blue fineline in light area at lower center: "To My / Friend Richard / C Ladde, Lots of Good / Luck God Bless You, / Your Friend / Cliff 'Fido' Purpur." Accompanied by original large manila mailing envelope, entirely addressed in Fido's hand and signed by him again at upper left with his Grand Forks, North Dakota address, cancelled on 3 May 1988.
