From an on-line posting: "Samuel Brannen is a senior fellow in the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where his research focuses on U.S. defense and national security strategy and policy, Turkey, and Iraq. Prior to rejoining CSIS in May 2013, Brannen served at the Pentagon as special assistant to the principal deputy under secretary of defense for policy. In that position, he advised and supported the second-ranking U.S. defense policy official on a range of defense and national security matters. From July 2010 to September 2012, Brannen was country director for Turkey, Cyprus, and Malta in the Office of Secretary of Defense. He advised senior Pentagon officials on adapting the U.S. -Turkey defense relationship to changing internal and regional dynamics.
