Written while serving a six-month prison sentence for an article he wrote alleging American troops were to be employed in Britain as strike-breakers, Russell's popular introduction to the system of Principia Mathematica was first delivered as a set of public lectures in autumn 1917, before publication in book form. Octavo. Original orange cloth, spine lettered in gilt. A few minor pencilled annotations to contents. Spine sunned and with short tear at head, gilt heavily oxidised as usual, slight foxing to early leaves. A very good copy. Blackwell & Ruja A30.1a.
