Dark green cloth with gilt titles to spine and gilt urn motif to upper board. Inner front hinge weak; endpapers toned. No annotation or inscriptions. Cover cloth lightly sunned to spine; joint to upper board split full length but holding, and to rear board split in 2 sections (respectively 1-inch and 2-inches). Edges rubbed with wear at corners and spine tips; upper board wrinkled. Rare in original hardcover. "An introduction to the study of the antiquities of what is archaeologically one of the most important countries in the world".
