Sobre este artículo

Boston: Stratford Publishing Co., 1922. First edition. Hardcover in full cloth. Very good. Octavo (standard size). Slight wear to edges and corners of boards. Corners, head and heel of spine bumped. Gilt titling to cover and sine, with an attractive image of the sun rising over Ireland in gilt on front board. Paper very slightly browned, more so at endpapers, but not fragile. 215 p. A collection of some 16 essays written "with very little thought that they would see light from the printed page" as the foreword says. Clearly written by an Irishman who has strong positive feelings for his new place in America, it is a surprisingly even handed group of essays, not pro -Sinn Fein at all and not enitrely pro-British policy towards Ireland either. He disapproved of Irish conduct with Germany (essays probably written during the war) and thinks the biggest problem with Ireland is factionalism on the Pro-Independence side. A good line from the book: " The Irish are a very truthful people. They never speak well of one another." Uncommon.
