Sobre este artículo

Chicago: DeBower Elliott Company, 1904. 10 volumes. First Edition of the Collection. Profusely illustrated throughout, with frontispieces, and full page plates protected by lettered tissue guards, some in colour, many portraits and views of various areas and locales of Ireland. Large 8vo, publisher's best bindings of full blue morocco, the spines decorated and lettered in gilt, the upper covers with gilt autograph facsimiles, marbled endleaves, top edges gilt. A very good set indeed with little evidence of use and very well preserved with the bindings all in quite pleasing and handsome condition. FIRST EDITION OF THIS FINE COLLECTION OF IRISH LITERATURE. Virtually every important writer in Ireland's long history of literary geniuses is included The volumes are arranged alphabetically by author and so can be used as one wishes, with any particular volume useful on its own. From Alexander and Allingham to Yeats and the Gaelic Authors, this is a very complete collection of the best of Irish writing throughout the centuries.
In ten volumes representative selections from the writers both ancient and modern are included. Nearly three hundred and fifty writers are represented. Also valuable and featured are a series of special articles on the subjects at hand including important contributions by William Butler Yeats.
Among the many illustrations both in black and white and colour are facsimiles of ancient Irish manuscripts, ancient prints, broadsides, ballads, portraits, places and objects in the country and of scenery and incidents helpful in elucidating the writings. There are footnotes giving translations of the Irish words and phrases and a fine index to the entire work.
