Sobre este artículo
USA: P.F.Collier & Son, 1947. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall. Type: Hard Back One Volume. Section Two, Volume 1 of the Set of Irish Literature. This volume is Part 1 of The Knight of Gynne. Hardcover Book in Very Good Condition. No publication date stated, Preface by Charles Lever is dated 1872. This is most likely the 1947 published set--it appears there has been none published since. Bound in green cloth with gilt titles and blind-stamped tree and branches on spine, with blind-stamped title, scroll border and a lyre on front. Bottom corner of front panel is discolored-darker, otherwise very clean, no marks. Light rubbing of spine edges and corners. Tight, solid and square sewn binding. Frontispiece: "Mr. Daly Stirs Up the Post-Boy"--a delightful illustration. Title page in green-tones. First three pages are discolored on lower corner, otherwise pages are clean, no markings, no creasing, toned. Charles Lever (1806-1872), at the peak of his career, was one of the most successful novelists in the English Language, with a reputation to rival Charles Dickens. Unlike Dickens, Lever's reputation suffered after his death (apparently for political reasons) and within three decades he had sunk into obscurity. He is sometimes called the Lost Victorian. An author well worth getting to know. xvi, 397 pages. 8.25 x 5.6 inches. P.F.Collier & Son, 1947.
