Sobre este artículo

(New York): Signet / New American Library, 1960. Softcover. Near Fine. Reprint of the paperback edition. A couple of ink numbers on inside cover, else near fine. A Dedication Copy, Inscribed by Arthur C. Clarke to his protégé, one-time secretary, and longtime friend Ian Macauley: "To Ian, again!! All the best, Arthur 12 Nov 82." The printed dedication reads: "For Ian From an Elizabethan to a Georgian." The first edition of this title, originally published in 1953, was Clarke's first published hardcover novel, a story for adolescents. Macauley was an award-winning *New York Times* journalist who also edited Clarke's book of collected essays, *Greetings, Carbon-Based Bipeds!* (2000). Clarke wrote the last chapter of *Childhood's End* while visiting Macauley in Atlanta in 1952, where he was reportedly greatly influenced by their discussions. Clarke's first hardcover novel, preceded only by *Prelude to Space* (1951), issued in paperback as *Galaxy Science Fiction Novel #3*.

Sinopsis

Islands in the Sky is a science fiction novel written by Arthur C. Clarke, and published in 1952. It is one of his earliest and lesser known works. The book tells the story of Roy Malcolm, a young space enthusiast who wins a trip to the Inner Space Station by way of his knowledge of aviation on a game show. Once aboard, Roy learns the effects of zero-G with delight, and joins the mishaps and adventures of the young crew of the station.
