Hardcover. 2-volume set, large format hardcovers, rebound in full leather, decorative end-papers, no copyright dates but 1860 indicated by our research, Volume One, 548 pages plus a 32-page Introduction followed by a double-page color map, frontis engraving of Garibaldi, total of 36 full-page illustrations, the last 12 illustrations are mis-numbered in the List of Illustrations at the front but all are present and in the correct order, Volume Two, 169 pages + 400 pages dealing with the War In Italy, frontis engraving of Count Cavour, double-page color map, 36 illustrations total, pages 385-392 are repeated after page 392, nothing is missing, we have collated both volumes and all pages and illustrations are present, Indexes are present at the front of each volume, we note the following flaws: the edges of the covers are rubbed and both volumes have some areas where the sewn binding is stretched, the binding remains secure and the contents are fine although mild tanning is present on some of the pages, overall a clean, presentable set of this scarce work .
