1st American reissue edition. Originally published in 1934, this early Greene novel deals with the injustice of man s justice. Greene s Russian roulette style detective story about bedfellow rivalries between capitalists and communists. Praised by Ezra Pound and Ford Maddox Ford. The novel came to life in 1938 when a murder similar to its plot occurred, and Greene for a time feared his arrest by civil authorities. Very good in an unclipped jacket, showing some wear at head of spine and fading to cloth.
Sinopsis
Graham Greene (1904-1991) worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the foreign office. His many books include The Third Man , The Comedians and Travels with My Aunt . He is the subject of an acclaimed three-volume biography by Norman Sherry.
