Sobre este artículo

1929 hardcover as pictured. An award winning but now neglected novel acclaimed in a 1930 American Legion contest as one of the best books to capture the experience of the first world war but also disparaged for describing the tawdry realities of the war and its aftermath. Its ironic title belies the truths told within. Lee was the daughter of a Boston Brahmin family who served in several positions in France during the war. She said she wrote the book to tell women the truth about the war. "They think that war is a pure, wonderful crusade...fine young men and women, fighting for Justice…. If people really knew what it was like — if women knew –." Binding is firm. Blue cloth boards with silver stamping are rubbed and lightly soiled with some edge wear. Pencil notation on FFEP. Front hinge cracked at dedication page. Rough cut text block. Text is lightly tanned but appears otherwise clean and unmarked. No dust jacket.
