This is a charming new version of the classic rhyme "Jack and Jill" as retold by W.E. Brown - "JACK AND JILL ~ A Love Story." 1891 1st edition; William Doxey; San Francisco. The book features illustrations by Elisabeth Curtis, decorative end papers, and gilt page edges on all sides. "Published for the benefit of the Silver Street Kindergarten Society." The book contains a version of the classic rhyme "Jack and Jill" retold by W.E. Brown, followed by numerous renditions of the story as if it might have been written by other notable authors (such as Walt Whitman, Alfred Tennyson, Thomas Moore and others). At the beginning of the book is a biographical sketch of Elizabeth Fleet, a.k.a. "MOTHER GOOSE." Please see the photos for the complete list of contents.

Light soiling to the covers; bright gilt lettering on the front cover and spine; light wear to the bottom 2 corner tips. Tight binding with no loose pages. The front end paper has a 1" tear at the outer edge. Bright gilt page edges on all sides. Light staining to page 15, otherwise the inside of the book is clean. Overall the book is in Good condition.
