INSCRIBED in upper right corner of front cover ("... with the compts. of the Secretary of the J. B. Union"). The Centennial being marked was the arrival of the first Baptist missionary in Jamaica in 1814. Williams ended his address with a plea for better cooperation and support from Baptist pastors in Jamaica, asking them to support a proposal to raise "a Thanksgiving Fund to be used for the good of all the Churches." We don't know who inscribed this copy ar Secretary of the Jamaica Baptist Union but it may have been Rev. Williams, who came from Wales as a missionary to Jamaica in 1872, since we found him identified elsewhere in a brief online obituary as having been Secretary of the Jamaica Baptist Union from 1885 until his death in 1917.
