Borzoi Book published by Alfred A. Knopf. 1961. Illustrated by Nancy Ekholm Burkert. Red boards with blind-stamped James inside a wreath on front, gilt title on spine, blind-stamp Borzoi Books with logo on back and green endpapers. Specific mention of this being his first children's book on dust jacket front and rear flaps and in back of book. Four line colophon in rear of book mentions ""Bound by The Book Press, New York"" rather than Bound by H. Wolff, New York which is the first state of the first printing. No mention beneath colophon of Charlie books. This is a very beautiful copy of this children's book and an outstanding collectible. This is becoming a very rare book.
