F.T.A. troupe included socially conscious actors Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland, comedian Paul Mooney, political activist Fred Gardner, play write Barbara Garson and folk singer Len Chandler.
The group collectively protested the Vietnam War via humorous sketches, songs and dramatic readings. The show was a parody of Bob Hope U.S.O. Tours and went to military towns along Coasts as the Free The Army Tour, or F.T.A. tour.
The Army had a recruiting slogan, Fun Travel and Adventure, turned into F---k the Army by the troops and into Free The Army by the cast.
In 1972 this tour became a feature film, directed by Francine Parker one of the first female members of The Directors Guild of America.

    Descripción:
New York, 1960. Unbound. Near Fine. A small collection of four photographs and two contact sheets taken by New York photojournalist, Bill Vetel in the 1960s measuring between 6.5" x 9.5" and 8" x 10" with captions. Slight edgewear else near fine. The images show training of the Quaker Project on Community Conflict in the 1960s. The QPCC began in the 1960s as a way to "train civil rights demonstrators in nonviolent conflict resolution." These photos depict that training with one captioned on the verso, "QPCC staffer Cathy Feuer briefs trainees prior to acting out training scenario." The contact sheets document these scenarios with the views of the simulated "conflicts" a trainee could encounter and ways to deflect and remove themselves nonviolently. A modest but interesting collection of photographs depicting a Quaker activist group in the 1960s.
