Essays and photographs published on the occasion of the 1956 Randall's Island Jazz Festival with performances by Billie Holliday, Dave Brubeck, Gerry Mulligan, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and others. The New York Times estimated a crowd of over 15,000 in attendance.
