Sobre este artículo

New York: Berkeley Publishing Corporation, 1979. First edition. 8vo, 405pp. Signed by Bill Ransom on the title page. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in silver in illustrated jacket by Paul Alexander. Foxing to page block edge, former owner's name to ffep. Jacket with light chipping at spine ends, corners, and top edge. Very good. Laid in are a TLS from Ransom, a signed copy of Ransom's "Last Rites" chapbook, a signed typescript copy of the "Glyph Notes" from "Last Rites," and a newspaper clipping of an article by Ransom on Guatemala.

Interesting copy of this novel, the second in the Destination: Void Universe series cowritten by Frank Herbert and Bill Ransom.  Washington poet, writer, and humanitarian, Bill Ransom (b. 1945) was actively involved in humanitarian groups in Central America.  The TLS laid in is addressed to a secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS and discusses a 4-week trip to Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

Ransom's writing has been nominated for both a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award.  The Last Rites poetry chapbook included, which is toned and creased on the fore edge from being laid in the book, is a poem written both in English and Egyptian Hieroglyphics.  The laid in "Last Rites Glyph Notes" have a handwritten note from Ransom explaining how it took him quite a while to learn how to write in Egyptian.

A very interesting set from this multi-talented writer from Washington State.  .
