Square quarto, released for a retrospective exhibit, pp. 200, illustrated boards, duotone photos, text in Spanish and English. Gomis (1902-1991) was an accountant who got into photography at age 12 and became respected in artistic circles. He was probably the first Spanish artist to spot the architecture of Gaudi, which he began photographing when Gaudi was still unknown. Gomis's pictures are also associated with the imagery of the painter Joan Miro. This book includes a section on Gomis's street photography of Houston, Texas, in the 1920s. Condition of this book: Boards lightly worn with a few surface scratches. Leaves clean and tight, images fine. Size: Quarto. Text is in multiple languages. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
