Sir James Percy Fitzpatrick was born in 1862 in King Williams Town in the Cape Colony. He went to school in England, from where he returned in 1834 to become a gold prospector and transport rider in the Eastern Transvaal. Two years later he became the Editor of the Barberton Herald and when the Second Anglo-boer War broke out he was working for a mining company in Johannesburg. Sinopsis
Jock of the Bushveld is a true story by South African author Sir Percy Fitzpatrick. The book tells of Fitzpatrick's travels with his dog, Jock, during the 1880s, when he worked as a storeman, prospector's assistant, journalist and ox-wagon transport-rider in the Bushveld region of the Transvaal. Fitzpatrick later recounted these adventures as bedtime stories to his four children.
