Sobre este artículo

London: Eyre & Spottiswood, 1952. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good +. Th dust jacket states that this novel received the publisher's Literary Award for 1951, so this is a later printing of the first edition. The interior of the book is clean and fresh, showing just a few signs of previous use. The yellow covers are clean, with light wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket is in slighly better than Good condition, with moderate edgewear, handling, and darkening of the white portions of the paper. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: When Lieut. Taylor joins an Indian air Supply company operating a supply lift into besieged Imphal from a small town in Bengal, in 1944, he finds himself apppointed second-in-command of Trhee Section. Three Section belongs to Johnnie Brown, and the Major tells him, "You're lucky to be with Johnny." .. soon, in Taylor's eyes, Johnnie personifies the mood and atmosphere surrounding this group of men who work so hard, improvising much with little, finding strength in doing so. But Johnnie's strength comes from someting else -- from the unique relationship existing between him and his men; and when, inevitably, the company is subordinated to a staff orgnaisation and is geared to the efficient machine which drives the Japanese from Burma, Johnnie Stands isolated, discernable as a man whose particuarr qualities no longer fit him for his task. Should Johnnie go or stay?
