There is a brown spot on the inside of the front board that corresponds to the Fep. This spot is also evident on the next two pages. Pages are tight. All color illustrations are bold. The illustration on the front cover is missing. Page 94 has a small piece missing at the corner. This edition is a slight grade above a reading copy. .

Rand McNally & Company, 1930. Beige hardcover cloth binding is missing the picture pastedown on the cover, a couple small fragments of it remain. Rubbed on all corners and edges, illustrated endpapers have spots and foxing, but interior pages are mostly clean and bright - a few closed tears and light soiling but not bad. Keith Ward went on to illustrate some of the Walter Farley Black Stallion books. First edition with notatio of 10MA-30 and publisher m ark on copyright page. 110 pages.. Pictorial endpapers in green ink; 7 full-page color illustrations and smaller illustrations on every other spread, alternating between full color and b&w. Spine ends and corners a bit worn, edges a bit rubbed, some light soiling and stains to front cover, minute traces of hand-soiling in a few page margins, else an internally clean, tight copy.
First edition. A collection of humorous stories about a group of anthropomorphic animals who find themselves in delightfully strange situations. The charming illustration of Keith Ward (best known as a commercial illustrator who created Borden's Elsie the Cow as well as the 1940 editions of Dick and Jane) are reminiscent of the work of Harrison Cady and capture the brightness and levity of these amusing tales.
