Sobre este artículo

"Jonathan and His Continent ~ Rambles Through American Society" by Max O'Rell and Jack Allyn. 1889 1st edition; J.W. Arrowsmith, Bristol / Simpkin, Marshall & Co., London. The book is a collection of observations, often humorous, of America and Americans by a Brit. Here are a few examples of the contents: Something Wanting in the Beauty of Most American Women; Players of Poker on Board Ship; The Open Sesame of New York, Boston and Philadelphia; The Childish Side of American Character; American Houses; American Hospitality; Millionaires; Women's Dress; Mark Twain; Boisterous Humour and Horseplay, Wit; The President of the United States and the Reporters; Literature in the United States; England is a Freer Country than America; The Ordinary American...Murders His Language and Your Ears...and much more. There are advertisement pages at the front and back.

Condition:
Light wear to the paper at the cover corners. Light soiling to the covers, heavier on the spine; there is a 2" stain line at the left edge of the back cover. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean with only a half-dozen pages or so at the front where a vertical line has been made in pencil at the outer margin to highlight specific lines of text or a specific paragraph. Light tanning to the half title page and to the last free advertisement page. Overall the book is in Good+ condition.
