Missing DJ, light sunning to spine, some water staining to base of boards and reading block, discrete repairs with book binders tape to front and rear gutters, paper is cheap quality as published and somewhat age toned. ; Undated but asumed mid to late 1950s. Red cloth boards with black lettering to spine, decorated endpapers. Colour frontis by Brabbins. Nice tight copy, no names or marks inside. ; 256 pages; The stories of Jorrocks, a vulgar but good-natured sporting cockney grocer were originally published in 1838 and are roughly contemporaneous with Dickens stories of Mr Pickwick to which they bear similarities. A typical "John Bull" who enjoys both business and capers, gigantic meals and deep potations, and rides to hounds with verve and enthusiasm. .
