A beautiful study of the English Romantic painter, best known for his expressive colour use and imaginative landscapes. John Walker was an American art curator and the second director of the National Gallery of Art. Densely illustrated throughout with various in-text monochrome illustrations and fifty six colour plates. Collated, complete. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper. In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. There is some very slight creasing to the extremities of the dust wrapper. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
