The son of "the" Joseph Pulitzer who established the Pulitzer Prize. The second Joseph Pulitzer was "a man of even temperment and measured administrative style", unlike his colorful father. This biography "shows him to have been one of America's most important newspapermen, ranking with Adolph Ochs, William Allen White, and Robert R. McCormick," (front flap).
