Sobre este artículo
Tokyo: Unsoudo, 1918. Two octavo vols. (54)pp. each. Both volumes begin with introductions printed in Hiragana, and then present across subsequent pages color woodblock prints of toys from around the world, with captions. The global scope of the toys, among which are Parisian and Taiwanese masks, Matryoshka dolls, Hungarian and Burmese carvings, and puppets of all kinds, subtly engages with the greater political agenda of the Japanese government, which was at the time bent on positioning Japan as a significant world power. Volumes stab-bound with illustrated paper labels to upper covers. Both with library markings, rubs to edges, stray foxing to outermost leaves, and expected occasional offsetting. Near fine, with only one copy in OCLC. An earlier edition was published in 1914 but lacked forty-two of the prints in the present edition.
