Sobre este artículo

New York: G. & C. & H. Carvill,, 1831. A gripping tale of mutiny and murder First edition of this uncommon and important account. The schooner USS Dolphin set out from Peru in 1825 in search of the crew of the whaling ship the Globe which had mutinied the previous year. Dolphin visited the Galapagos, Marquesas, and Gilbert Islands in search of any reports of the ship, eventually finding just two surviving members of the Globe's crew on what is now Mili Atoll, the rest having been murdered by both their fellow mutineers and the atoll's inhabitants. Paulding provides gripping descriptions of both ships's exploits. Octavo. Rebacked retaining majority of original pink cloth spine and boards, titles printed in black to paper label to spine, edges untrimmed. Housed in a custom beige cloth solander box, author's surname misspelt to leather spine label. Folding frontispiece map. Pencil ownership inscription sometime partially erases from first blank. Spine label largely retained and legible, slight wear to extremities, cloth lightly soiled, foxing throughout, endpapers alternated at time of reback, early rust mark to front free endpaper and folding map consequently offset on the now rear pastedown, tissue reinforcement to front and rear inner hinges; remaining a very good copy. Forbes 795; Forster 80; Hill 1319; Howes p. 131; Huntress 247C; Sabin 59186.
