New York: G.& C.& H. Carvill, 1831. First edition. Twelvemo (6 1/4 x 3 7/8 inches; 160 x 100 mm). 258, [2, blank] pp. With frontispiece folding map.
Original full pink cloth, with original printed paper spine label. Label is complete. All edges uncut. Previous owner's old ink signature on front free endpaper. Small ink spot on title-page. Small ink spot and small hole on front endpaper. Cloth with some sunning to edges and spine. With foxing throughout, but not more than normal for American books of this period. Still clean, tight and with a complete label which is unusual. Overall very good.
"The Dolphin was sent to the Mulgrave Islands to rescue any survivors of the mutiny on board the Nantucket whaler Globe. On the return voyage the ship stopped at Hawaii, the first United States warship to visit those islands.
