Paris, Librarie Chapelot, 1920. Soft Cover. Two volumes: xxxii, 405; 391 pages, portrait frontispieces by A. Danse. The author was born in Paris of Irish-French parentage, niece of Arthur Richard Dillon (1721-1806; archbishop of Nabonne), daughter of Arthur Richard Dillon (1750-1794; Jacobin general) and a woman of the French court. In 1797 she married Frederic-Seraphin, comte de Gouvernet; this work describes French life from 1778 to March 1815, after which she followed her husband into voluntary exile. She died in Pisa. Bound in blue printed wraps, as issued; unopened; pages slightly darkened; fine. Stock#28311/h.
